  • We make our lessons fun! We use games and skills in our classes to help them learn and enjoy their lessons.

  • We incorporate into our lessons gentle reminders of how to be safe reminding children that swimming is fun, to respect the rules and the reason why the rules are in place.

Our Instructors

Our teachers are incredibly friendly and highly qualified, and we genuinely love what we do.

Virginia founded SwimSkills just after lockdown, bringing together a team of highly qualified and passionate Swim Teachers.

Virginia taught herself to swim as a toddler on the sun-drenched Mediterranean shores of Malta. She now has over 20 years’ experience teaching in private swim schools and leisure centres across London and Sussex, and has helped children of all ages and abilities begin their swimming journeys.
She has also worked successfully with blind and deaf children and adults, adapting sessions to individual needs with excellent outcomes.

Alice—SwimSkills’ administrator, Swim Teacher, and a very experienced Lifeguard and First Aider—is highly regarded by parents for her compassion and enthusiasm when teaching children with autism and SEN.

How We Work

  • Small groups: It has always been Virginia’s desire to keep classes small, so children benefit from focused attention and we can get to know what works for each individual. This is so important.

  • Ongoing training: All staff take part in regular in-house training and share techniques, which is invaluable to our continuing aim of offering the very best swimming lessons.

  • Inclusive approach: We tailor our teaching to each swimmer. Our team is experienced in supporting children with additional needs.

We’d be delighted to help your child start—or continue—their swimming journey, building confidence and strong skills in the water.

“I started taking my son to Little Swim Skills as a baby and continued until he started school. By the time we stopped going he was a confident swimmer, able to swim unaided and even learnt how to dive in. We would love to have continued with Virginia. Through all the screaming and tears there were at times Virginia kept her patience and never gave up on him! A wonderful swimming teacher!”

“Our son has special educational needs (ASC), and has benefited enormously from his 2:1 lessons with Virginia. In just 6 weeks, Virginia has helped him overcome his fears, and he is now happy and confident in the water. His progress has been incredible. Virginia and her team are special because they get to know the individual child, and they work with the child's strengths to overcome their challenges. The quiet pool and Virginia's calm and supportive approach allow him to focus and always feel safe. I would highly recommend their tuition!”
